MISSION

Love God, Love Others & Serve Our Community:

Fulfilling the Great Commission & Living the Great Commandment

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.

- Mark 12:29-31

Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

- Matthew 28:19-20

VISION & STRATEGY

Our vision for The Loft can be stated as: The Loft Wesleyan Church (CCC) is a thriving Christian community that is Biblically sound and apologetically confident.  “Thriving” means life is flowing, people are growing, and new life is springing up. “Christian” means we are followers of Christ, Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God. “Community” means we recognize that our interactions with one another are central to our walk with God. “Biblically sound” means it is our desire that we recognize and proclaim that the Bible is the authoritative and sufficient Word of God, given to us that we may know His ways, and walk in them. “Apologetically confident” means that we grow in knowledge of His word, and desire to be comfortable to “provide an answer for anyone who asks us about this hope that we have within us.” (1 Peter 3:15)  It is by the Love of God, and our Faith in Christ, by which we are saved: We believe those marvelous truths must show through us in our love for others, our reliance on Christ, our Joy in the Holy Spirit.

OUR BELIEFS

God

The Loft believes in one God, who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and the Savior of all who put their faith in Him alone for eternal life. God is the Creator of the universe. God is love, and He loves His creation unconditionally. God desires more than anything that everyone would be in relationship with Him and know His purpose for their lives.

Gen 1:1; Jn 1:1-4; Acts 17:24-27; 1 Jn. 4:8-9,16

The Bible

The Bible is God's Message to us. It reveals God's character and will for our lives. It contains ancient yet relevant truth that serves as a guide for how we should live. We believe that the word of God is without error in original manuscripts.

Ps. 119:105; Jn. 17:17; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:21; Heb. 4:12

Salvation

God loves the world so much that He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to save us. Humanity rebelled against God. We try to be the god of our own lives, and we do not love each other as God intended. Jesus died on the cross and was punished in our place, so that by believing in Him, we can be made right with God. A person's good works cannot make a person right with God. Salvation comes only by trusting in Jesus' perfect life, death, and resurrection.

Jn. 3:16; Eph. 2:8-10; Jn. 14:6; Rom. 3:22-26

Church

The purpose of the Church is to worship God in spirit and in truth, and to reach a lost and fallen world with the gospel of Jesus Christ through its worship, witness, and loving deeds.

Jn. 4:24; Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 1:8; Matt. 5:16

Made New

Those who trust in Christ are made new. God calls us to a new life, to be holy in character and conduct, and He empowers us to live transformed lives through the Holy Spirit.

2 Cor. 5:17; 1 Thess. 4:7; Acts 1:8; Gal. 5:16; Rom. 8:11

Faith Roots

The Loft is part of The Wesleyan Church, which is one of many great denominations doing incredible work. The Wesleyan Church has roots in the abolitionist movement and the fight for women's suffrage.  Learn more about The Wesleyan Church here.

LEADERSHIP

Revs. Joel E. & Annalee Davis

Lead Pastor

Pastor Joel Davis is ordained in The Wesleyan Church.  He is our Lead Pastor.  He has a Bachelor’s degree in English and Education, a Master’s degree in Christian Counseling, and many years of course-work and Biblical study. Pastor Joel has an extensive background in music and songwriting, and has produced two CD’s of all-original songs for praise, worship and glorifying God.  He has been a classroom teacher, a seminar presenter, and a college adjunct professor. Pastor Joel spent many years in the “marketplace” in executive positions, and even had his own software and systems company for more than twenty years. He brings a diverse collection of experience from show business, technical pursuits, business, administration, teaching, counseling and theological study.  Pastor Davis’ vision for The Loft Wesleyan Church centers on helping each person in the congregation (and every visitor) to know God more completely, and walk in His love and grace daily.

Pastor Annalee Davis is also ordained in the Wesleyan Church. Although technically “retired” from ministry, Pastor Annalee continues to minister in numerous ways (through masterful musicianship, leading of devotions, and individual counseling) helping to strengthen and encourage the entire congregation.

OUR STORY

In August of 2000, Christian Community Chapel (CCC) was born out of a small group meeting with Pastor Steve and Pam Nash and seven other couples. CCC had an unorthodox beginning and moved between the Somerset Marriott, Ramada Inn, and Quality Inn for the first few months. One year later, CCC purchased Brookhaven Farm in Hillsborough and constructed a beautiful sanctuary in an ideal location right on Route 206. This served as our home for over a decade.

In 2010, CCC saw the need for a support network and voted to join the Wesleyan Church denomination. Upon joining we became "one of the most diverse Wesleyan churches in North America." In 2015, CCC made the strategic decision to relocate in order to maximize ministry effectiveness. We sold the property on Route 206 to another wonderful church, and purchased Ram Hill Farm, our current home on 121 South Branch Road.

Today, we are at an exciting time in our church's history! We are relaunching as The Loft Wesleyan Church (The Loft) and are undertaking an incredible renovation project, converting a historic barn into a church sanctuary. The Loft is excited to fulfill its God-given vision to transform Hillsborough and the world with the love of Jesus Christ! Be a part of our story!
